Who We Are

Independent Pet Genetics Expertise

GenomeTails is an animal genetics advisory company dedicated to making pet DNA information both understandable and actionable. As pets become increasingly cherished members of our families — and as genetic data becomes more accessible than ever to guide health, lifestyle, and breeding decisions — the need for independent genetic counselling has grown. GenomeTails was founded by geneticist Dr. Jonas Donner to meet that need.

We support and educate everyone considering DNA testing or already working with pet genetic data, covering all aspects of inherited diseases and traits, and population genetics. From reviewing genetic testing programs and interpreting complex reports to guiding sustainable breeding and long-term breed health strategies, GenomeTails bridges the gap between scientific knowledge and practical pet care.

We don’t sell genetic tests — we help you make sense of them.

How it works

1. Share your case
Tell us about your pet, breeding animals, or organisation, and what you need help with. Include any relevant background or DNA test results.

2. Receive a clear, no-obligation quote
We review your inquiry and recommend the most suitable consultation option. You’ll receive a transparent quote, and we’ll move ahead only when you’re comfortable with the plan.

3. Personal consultation
Meet directly with Dr. Jonas Donner by email or video call for personalised, easy-to-understand guidance on your pet’s or breed's genetics, and next steps.

We hired Jonas to give a lecture on genetic panel testing in dogs. His presentation was very practice-oriented and easy to understand. Many thanks for the clear and illustrative explanation of the topic!
